ATENOR’s BREEAM Excellent and Access4You Gold-certified, ESG-proof BakerStreet project is located in the 11th district of Budapest. It will comprise two office buildings with a total leasable area of approx. 42,000 square meters. E.ON will be the first tenant to occupy the campus, as the exclusive office tenant of the 1st phase of the development.

E.ON and ATENOR both represent similar values, laying the foundation for an excellent partnership. At the core of both companies’ principles is the focus on sustainability and ESG, which is the way to mitigate the negative effects of climate change and to future-proof not only the operations of both organizations, but also our planet.

E.ON, present in 13 European countries, is one of Europe's largest operators of energy networks and energy infrastructure and a provider of innovative customer solutions. It is a leader in the energy transition in Europe, committed to sustainability, climate protection, renewable energy for the future of our planet.

ATENOR, the Belgian real estate developer, present in 10 countries in Europe - including Hungary since 2008 -, is known as a leading campus developer acting for our future, through developing sustainable office and residential schemes standing the test of time, blending organically into the city landscape and enriching the communities in which they are being developed, with landscaped community spaces and a wide range of services. The company, listed on the Brussels Euronext Stock Exchange, has obtained CO2-neutrality certificate in 2021 and has recently achieved great success in green financing through issuing green retail bonds for its investors.

The BakerStreet project is a prime example of these values, with its state-of-the art technologies, sustainable solutions and green landscaped gardens and terraces, putting the human experience into the forefront without compromising the environment. Two strong examples out of many are the UVC filters incorporated into the fresh air supply system in order to sanitize the air inflow, as well as the fact that all underground parking spaces will be equipped with or have the capacity to provide electric chargers to support e-mobility. These technical features, as well as the common values with the developer ATENOR, were the main factors in the decision of E.ON to relocate its HQ offices to the 1st phase of the project.

“Following the restructuring of the E.ON Hungária Group, we were looking for an ideal solution for all our colleagues, a headquarter building, that adjusts to our increased headcount in the capital city, takes the commuting requirements of our Transdanubian employees into account and adapts to the changes of working trends, the ever more present hybrid way of working at the same time. The new office building is being developed in one of the most dynamically developing areas of Budapest. Upon its selection, besides the economic considerations, the key aspects were sustainability, the applying of future-proof solutions and the adaptation of a flexible operational framework.” Mr. Zsolt Zsedényi, Deputy CEO of E.ON Hungária Group said.

“We are delighted and honored that E.ON chose BakerStreet as the future home of their Hungarian operations. We are convinced that ESG, which is at the heart of both of our businesses, will be increasingly important for large corporates in the future and will be essential in keeping highly qualified workforce. Sustainable and human workplaces enhancing wellbeing are an important part of this and ATENOR is a partner providing exactly that to our tenants.” Mr. Zoltán Borbély, Country Director of ATENOR Hungary said.

In the transaction, JLL represented the Tenant, while ATENOR’s leasing representative was Colliers.

“We are proud that Hungary's market-leading energy company, E.ON, was represented by JLL's professional team during the transaction of their new 16,200 sqm HQ project. The fact that such an outstanding company, employing thousands of people, is moving to a newly developed office building proves that there is still a serious demand for modern, highly technical and aesthetic office spaces. E.ON's new headquarters, in addition to meeting environmentally conscious and sustainable requirements, will serve the needs of the changed work culture and will also ensure the well-being of the employees.” Dr. Péter Würsching, Head of Leasing at Jones Lang LaSalle Kft. added.
