Net borrowing increased the public debt by 226 billion forints (EUR 775m) while the strengthening of the forint reduced it by 315 billion forints (1.05bn).

The net public debt amounted to 17,728 billion forints (EUR 592bn), corresponding to 62.1 percent of GDP.

General government net financing requirement — which is a good approximation of the ESA ’95 general government deficit — was 3.1 percent of GDP in the second quarter, down from 3.3 percent in the first quarter.

The net financing requirement of the general government was 2.6 percent in the four quarters ending Q2, rising from 2.1 percent in the four quarters ending Q1.
